FOCUS ON MAIN SQUARE FESTIVAL

I recently told you about the French festival I will be attending at the end of June. Well, no festival without a little bit of fabulous acoustic waves! This post is all about the magnificent highlights of Main Square Festival. I could be posting a dozen more videos of the artists I have to discover yet - but I guess you get the picture, right? I'm excited to get some exercise by shaking my butt off in Arras, France!

At the moment I haven't been getting a lot of exercise. I am stuck at home, studying for the final tests of this year. And although I occasionally take an effort and study in my Marni x H&M shorts, my overall study outfits don't look that appealing. So bear with me for a while longer! I will find my fashion sense back after I finish studying the causes and cure of diarrhea - oh joy.

So, what's your favorite artist on the list?

PS. there's still some tickets left over at the Main Square Festival website ...
ON MINT AND FRENCH FESTIVALS

I think that the weather gods hold a grudge against us. While we North Europeans finally started to believe in the actual summer after a hopeful weekend of sunshine, today has been cloudy and mehhh. Luckily that gave me the opportunity to show off my new boots from Koah! While other bloggers were worshipping the '5 items closet' thing last year, I simply couldn't get around buying myself a decent pair of black basic boots - boo me! But it was worth the wait. Love the fit and the supple leather. It all has a laidback feel to it. Perfect for a combination with tights and leather shorts, but I'm sure they'll accompany me to the festival season as well!

Talking about festivals, I will be walking the cobblestones of the cute little French town Arras with them! Ever heard of Main Square Festival? Well, me neither. But I spontaneously purchased tickets with some girlfriends because all the festivals around us were starting to sell out - we simply grabbed something that was within a radius of 400 kilometres. We might just made a mastermind move - after some research we found out that MSF was one of the most unknown, high quality festivals in France for a fair price. More on this fest laterrr.

Back to the outfit. Remember me talking about peplums? To me, the peplum is a shape that surpasses seasons and trends, I think it will keep coming back into fashion simply because it's so stylish and flattering. This one got me all excited the moment I spotted it at H&M trend, because apart from the classic shape it does tick some season trends that I happen to lurrrrrv. The modern take on broderie anglaise and that wonderful, marvellous mint tone.. Gorgeous. Still on the hunt for a semi-matching coloured jeans, does anyone have an idea where to go shopping for that? :) Mint mint mint on my minddd.

One peplum item down, two to go! (Doesn't sound like I'm a compulsive hoarder AT ALL...)
These pictures are last year's Spring all over again. First thing I do the minute the sun pulls out from behind the clouds, I pull out this blush pink skirt from the back of my closet. Must be getting a boring view for the sun, not to mention you. But I'll tell you this: I was in doubt about getting the skirt, I thought it was too expensive and it would be drowning in the sea of other blush icecream toned clothes I own. Definitely had a thing for that at the time (ok I'll admit it, I still do). But I got it anyway. And every time I think of that 'I am not going to buy it' thought I get friggin' scared, man! I made memories with this skirt, dragged it with me all over Europe last summer and it has become a symbol of SS2011 to me. Wouldn't want to have missed that dusty pink flowiness in my cheesy peace-sign-making-tourist pictures. And about the price - I think I got the cost per wear down to about.. €0,50? What was I thinking? I think I am going to go have nightmares about that tonight.

Also, have you noticed the upcoming trend that heels have been becoming lower and more comfortable? I think it's a great change from the platform heels and killer stilettos that we have been wobbling around on. Will be wearing these a lot more often in summer - I love high heels but being a busy bee I can't handle walking miles and miles in sky high heels, and budget wise a taxi isn't an option either haha. A crazy thought, actually - would you ever take a cab just because you don't wear proper footwear? Talking about cost per wear...

Dusting off my art department here at the blog. It may not be known to most of you, but I read art history books for fun and would've gone into the art business.. If the big money from a career in medicine didn't lure me in to this university hell-hole that I am in right now. Haha. Just kidding, although it's mainly about studying my ass off, I think that my current study fits me so much better. I recently picked up this extra class of Greek mythologic art, and it's so floaty & not to the point compared to medicine studies! I couldn't believe it, kind of a culture shock. It was a good affirmation that I am going in the right direction. My brain has officially hospitalized.

I felt like sharing this artist with you because I love art nontheless. Fans of 19th century illustrator Aubrey Beardsley (on which I have NEVER EVER spent a single word on my blog, which is kind of a sacrilege) will recognize this man's inspiration: Takato Yamamoto, born 50 years after Beardsley's death, is his Japanese equivalent. Both men have a great eye for aesthetic, use a certain kind of grotesque humour in their work and are highly controversial. Beardsley was the British enfant terrible of the art nouveau period. And although highly popular in Japan, Yamamoto has not a single book published in Europe, probably because Western cultures don't appreciate his on-edge style.

His signature way of drawing is of a striking elegancy. These grainy scans of his work that circulate the internet add up to the feeling the strange, dark world of Yamamoto gives the observer. It's a mixup of previously mentioned Beardsley influences, classic Japanese manga and a fair amount of fetisj elements. Now, since the fashion world has gotten used to that word by now (Louis. Vuitton. FW11. Enough said) I thought I could show you. This is a selection of the more decent images - I myself aren't that fetisj-y so I prefer these relatively virtuous works of art.

I think that art is partly about being able to look at an image for a long time, being it out of admiration.. Or a slightly uneasy feeling. Yamamoto has found a balance in between those two aspects and that's a remarkable talent.

I am curious of your opinion.

ON BOYFRIEND JEANS AND PEPLUMS

Last month, I surprised both myself and my surroundings by prancing around in this new pair of boyfriend jeans. By means of an experiment, I bought it on sale at H&M during my flash trip to Austria. And it was surprisingly easy to fit in this masculine piece of clothing into my generally feminine style - I simply swapped the skinny jeans I would have worn in this outfit with these jeans, and presto!

The baggy jeans are a welcome change to my wardrobe. I mean, every girl probably has a love-hate relationship with skinny jeans. I almost peed my pants last week - I got stuck in a traffic jam and well, just happened to be wearing a gorgeous but humongously tight pair of jeans. I love the fact that skinnies are so figure hugging, but I pretty much despise the vesical-area-hugging side effects. In future I will be anticipating these potential moments of pee-agony by wearing the baggiest jeans ever!
About the trend-sensitivity of this style of jeans. It's bizarre how increasingly fleeting and superficial trends have become for the past few years. The boyfriend jeans barely made it's appearance on numerous popular fashion blogs, and nowr they're on supersale at highstreet shops already. I thankfully make use of that fact (I basically buy 90% of my clothes with a discount), but it isn't that much of a good development for fashion in general.

I'd wish fashion would slow down a bit. I intend to buy clothes that may be fashionable at times, but above all stylish. For instance I don't understand much of the neon colour trend. Most fashion lovers used to ignore the neon spectrum for ages, but flashy pinks and greens suddenly emerged out of the blogosphere and made their way to the catwalk. But honestly, I think that the fashion crowd will grow tired of it sooner or later. I simply think it's not that much of a flattering colour tone and the neon shirts, skirts and bags will probably be disappearing to the back of everyone's closets within a year. It's just too trend heavy and eventually it will be called outdated.

It's not that I intend to rule out every fashion trend out there. Some clothing trends are true gems. For instance I was thrilled about the peplum trend! I have already stocked up on a peplum skirt and two peplum tops for the past two seasons. Since the 1940s women have proven that the peplum is something ultimately feminine and silhouette improving, and in my opinion it's a shape that's here to stay. I am looking forward to showing you these items, to explain why I think I will still be wearing them in 20 years.

As long as those fitted tops and skirts still fit me in 20y, off course. Luckily I will still have my baggy jeans to save me from any prospective muffin tops if I don't. :)

Don't you just love these sandals by the way? Found them on a flea market for a bargain! Lasercut suede has been on my wishlist ever since I saw a pair of Alaïa's with razor sharp cutout print. Since Alaïa is slightly over budget I was thrilled to find these last summer. High street brand Morgan actually has high heels like this for sale at the moment, found them over at Spartoo - check below!
MORE THAN LONGITUDINAL WAVES

Music is more than just a bunch of longitudinal waves made out of adiabatic compression and decompression. It's not about whether you can dance to it on your Friday night out (although I will probably take that back after a few wodka-coke shots). A striking chord. A fragile female voice singing of life, love or death - stretching out the personality of the woman behind that voice naked in front of the audience. A perfect synergy of several instruments, may it be analogue or digital ones, resulting in a musical climax that gives you goosebumps.
Good music is more than vibrations in the air. With the right elements, the acoustic waves will vibrate their way straight through your heart, leaving behind a trail of a thousand emotions.

From now on, I will bundle the songs that I always used to add to my posts into a new category called Acoustic waves.

Today's theme is the fresh Spring rain that has been falling down on us for some time now. I really don't mind rain. Depending on your mood, you can see it as a gloomy thing or a process of coming clear.

I would love to hear your opinion on the songs. I also love discovering new music so feel free to share your favorites! Enjoy!

PS. Take a look at the new homepage, I edited and improved some bits and bobs. It's really awesommme.
This is the very last picture that features my lengthy hairdo, all that's left is a ponytail that will go straight to charity. I decided to donate my hair to be used in a wig for hairless children - may it be children who suffer from Alopecia or children who have hair loss due to cancer therapies.

There used to be a very brave young girl in my school when I was about 10 years old. I still remember her, because she proudly strutted around sporting... Her hairless skin. She wasn't ashamed of her bald head. And there was nothing to be ashamed of, in my opinion - it takes a lot of bravery to be able to walk around like that at an age of such uncertainty, the early start of puberty. Apart from bravery and confidence, it takes a lot of acceptance and support from the environment as well. Sadly enough there still is a taboo on bald women and kids.

My hair will eventually grow back. In some heads it simply won't grow at all, permanent or temporary.
Hair: it's just a bunch of keratin. But to a young kid that bunch of keratin can make them feel a bit human again, and less a 'sick person'. I don't agree with the taboo on baldness, but as long as it exists donations will be needed to provide these kids with free wigs.

For Dutchies who are interested in the story of the charity fund: Stichting Haarwensen has become quite famous over the years but every single straw of hair will be welcomed warmly.

On another note, I will show you the new hair soon soon soon. I happen to be very happy with it, too :) win-win!

Peace out.

I am writing this post with the speed of light - with the Paris trip barely behind me, I already left for Austria this Saturday for some family business. Klagenfurt, the city that I am writing from, seems to be inhabited solely by people above 40 and nuns... Imagine my excitement. Nevertheless, we've got quite a schedule so back to Paris!

Today I wanted to give you a bit of a taste of Paris in Spring. As you can see it's all about pink and macarons, I don't know about you but I am loving the cliché! We got this delicious gateau at La Maison Angelina, a place on which I wrote earlier didn't I? The box filled up with macarons with tasty names like Pétales de Rose, Chocolat Kalamansi and Fleure d'Oranger is from Ladurée, off course.

The grey tweed Converse shoes were from a forgotten place in my wardrobe, and I recently rediscovered them. Super happy with them once again! Can't believe I've been neglecting them for over 4 years.. The grey colour matches perfectly with a majority of my wardrobe. Maybe I'll invest in some grey ones with a white nose as well.. Or should I go for something more bright for summer?

Wearing ZARA knit and dotted blouse, VILA parka, Primark shorts and tights, and some long forgotten All Star Converse tweed sneakers
Je suis revenue de Paris! I had a blast together with my friend Timor but energy levels were below zero the entire weekend afterwards. I got back in the Netherlands by night bus - student budgets are a pain - and arrived in Amsterdam at 6.30... Can't recommend it, there's NO leg space and strangely enough there are a lot of smelly and noisy people. In other words: I barely slept that night, and the funny thing is.. I accidentally booked a stand at the monthly flea market in the North of Amsterdam for that day! So there I was at 7AM, barely arrived and already unpacking my clothes to be sold. I can tell you, by the end of the day I was more zombie than human but altogether I survived and actually had some fun in the meantime! My friend Kim had made us a delish food survival kit and I think we reduced our pile of clothing with 50% so it was fun and productive!

Peace out for now, more pictures to come.. This one was taken in Jardin des Plantes, beautiful blossoms n'est-ce pas?
My brain has officially been fried. ugehjfed. One day of studying to go.

All the Amsterdam students are cursing the weather right now - while the end of examination period is drawing near, the sun has chosen to just wander off to the other side of the planet. But it's a nice moment to show these pictures - could've been easily taken today.

Sadly enough I didn't take the effort to take some effin' pictures of the damn thing before I cut it up to shreds, but this waistcoat used to be a floor-tipping trenchcoat! It was hideous! But only 2 euros! I cut it! And I sewed it! Into a waistcoat! Yeaaa

It seemed like a good idea at the time (and not so much of an investment - sometimes I look at certain DIYs in horror, seeing girls cut/bleach/paint the most expensive pieces of clothings.. How do they even DARE to put a pair of scissors in a pair of jeans that's worth a month of grocery shopping?! I'd die).. But eventually it took me almost a year to finish it. It took me 3 minutes to cut off the sleeves, and a quadrillion of hours to fix up my disastrous way of cutting it up.. Anyway, here's the result. My sister affectionally told me it looked like I was going on a fishing trip.... Thanks, thanks a lot. :'( (She is a little bit right though. But I am not going to let all my hard work go to waste and try some outfits with it!)

Wearing DIY waistcoat, thrifted men's shirt, ye olde H&M woolen trenchcoat, PIECES Aztec print scarf, can't remember where I got the boots from. Hi, my name is - WHAT? My name is - WHO? My name is - wakawakawakawaka!!

Childhood nostalgia! After a little bit of research (the wonderful world of wikipedia) I found out that Eminem's breakthrough single 'My name is' dates back from 1999. Has it been that long? Nevertheless, recognizable lyrics.

Don't you just hate that Slim Shady moment in which you have to repeat your name a 762346 times whenever the person you introduce yourself to doesn't hear what you're saying? I HATE it whenever that happens, awkward muchhh. I am not used to pronouncing my name, it always comes out a bit strangely in front of new people - especially when repeated. My name is one of those words I hear all the time but rarely use myself. I mean, how often do you speak it out yourself, apart from introductions? Right!

Okay, back on track. I will never have those moments again, because My Name Necklace sent me over this cute silver Carrie Bradshaw-esque name necklace. Thanks guys! I will simply point to it demonstratically whenever someone forces me to say my name more than two times.

What do you think of this little makeup experiment btw? A soft brown smokey eye in combination with bright red lipstick - I wouldn't have come up with it myself wasn't it for an editorial I saw somewhere last week. I never walk out of the house without a splash of mascara slash sunglasses to cover my naked eyes so this is quite new to me!

So here's my attempt to create an asymmetrical duckface. I also happened to be wearing a pair of sunglasses from the freshly launched Dutch VOGUE, which brings me to today's topic after this, yes, incredibly short intro.

Yesterday morning. I really don't know how I ended up with this autographed Vogue magazine and a pair of sunglasses with the VOGUE logo. My day started off fairly ambitious, I got up at this unholy time to get to university. At that moment I was about 70 kilometres away from uni. Well, I managed to raise that number to 80 kilometres, just for fun (I am emphasizing some sarcasm right here). A matter of making the wrong choices in the oh so fabulous Dutch public transport. Anyway, I ended up in Rotterdam while my tight morning schedule was halfway to Amsterdam already.. Without me. Yes, at early mornings I treat my time as something very, very precious. Replace the word 'money' in that famous saying time is money with 'sleep', and there you have it: my favourite motto at 7 'o clock in the morning. Anyway, wasn't going to make it to college after mon erreur fatale, so...

Well, now follows this humongous gap in the story in which I eventually end up in Amsterdam.. But instead of attending university I spontaneously decided to line up in Amsterdam's biggest fashion department store for getting the very first Dutch Vogue autographed by their new editors. I even had a chat with their main fashion stylist, Marije Goekoop: she was very surprised that her name kind of blurted out of my mouth, along with some drivel. Bhehehe. Just kidding, I don't get that maniacal over famous people. But she seemed really honoured and happy to have someone approach her and compliment her on her work, just adorable. Do you know that feeling that whenever you see someone famous walk by, you really feel the urge to point that out to the friend you're with? I kind of had the urge to share the sentence 'That's Marije Goekoop!' with.. Marije Goekoop herself? Wanted to state something like don't you know who you are? Shouldn't you be acting all weird and arrogant? She didn't, which is completely normal and human off course - but I wouldn't see myself say hello to, say, Anna Wintour like that.

All in all, my Wednesday morning wasn't quite what I expected, and now I am pretty curious of what these more down to earth women have come up with. I am eager to learn whether it is possible to put an amazeballs quality magazine out there, without all the stupid fuzz of the usual magazine editor atmosphere. It probably sounds like I am romanticizing the Dutch fashion industry (which wouldn't be a fair image, it's still a fashion industry) but it was certainly worth mentioning that these women have a certain mindset that I dig.
I hope that this mindset has translated into a magazine that I love as well. We will find out within a week, when I get the time to actually do things that don't involve studying, woo!

Just a quick post, right in time before Spring starts - I could have not foretold that these pictures would become so irrelevant to the weather in such a short time. I mean, my gloves would have sweated off my fingers if I would have worn them today (wrong rhetorical device perhaps..) But I am all the more happy about it. Bonjour, vitamin D kick! The sun is really doing me good. It gives me fresh energy for drawing near new projects, old friendships and everything that's in between. At least, if I will ever leave the house again - my study books have been keeping me chained at home for weeks now. The inspiration for writing something fun and interesting is slowly diminishing - you can tell by the medical puns creeping into my writing, wooops. Did I just say vitamin D kick? Errr? What did normal life look like again?

But no need to complain, will be seeing my favorite things within a few weeks: the dear friends that I haven't seen in months because I was all over the place being too busy (I am a terrible friend, but I do make some awesome pastries - that must be the reason that my friendsies stick with me), and I will casually pay the city of love a visit - roadtrip to Paris with another dear friend! We'll be staying at a couple's home in Montmartre which is pretty damn superb. Last time I stayed in Paris overnight I had to wrap myself in 3 scarves on our way to the hotel, since zhe blonde hairdo functioned like a red flag in the shabby neighbourhood we stayed in.. I mean, it's obviously not French, and as a tourist it's not very comfortable at night over at the Gare du Nord area. Ah well, I ended up making pretty good scarf turbans after that period..

I'm rambling again - back to the pictures. Picked up this awesome cardigan at a thrift store for 4 euros, the texture and draperies in the back are just bananas. Don't get why neither of them made it to an actual picture. And I seriously need a new pair of All Stars as you can see. These won't be surviving the next festival season. I might opt for a leather pair after I have completely worn these ones down, what do you think? Kind of digging these monochrome white leather Converse All Stars... And it's a pity that they don't sell these cute baby shoes (kinderschoenen) in my size!
Worth sharing - Erika Marie from the Fashion Chalet has decided to give these mouth watering Alexander Wang Dakota's away.
It was my guilty pleasure to check if the white Dakota's were still on sale in my size at farfetch.com, but recently they got sold out. Not that I would spend my entire student allowance on a pair of shoes, but a girl can dream right? We all stand a chance at winning a pair for free now, so check out the giveaway here if you love the Dakota's as much as I do.
Last week, I was shot - not that literally - by Lorenzo de Wit with the assistancy of his girlfriend Chary. Although I get my picture taken all the time because of this blog, I really liked doing this. It was nice to work with a concept, to dress to a concept, and really become more of an attribute for the photographer's technique. I enjoyed being part of a more creative process - there's a world of difference between taking ordinary outfit pictures and getting directions from a photographer.

You know, I actually don't like getting my picture taken for outfit pics that much. Lots of bloggers look so relentlessly cool in their outfit posts that we're talking about magazine editorial quality. But it doesn't feel right to act like that's me. It's the reason why I smile and do crazy stuff like twirling and jumping around. I try to have fun in the process and pretending that I'm Tommy Ton worthy (lol! Must watch) isn't exactly on my fun list.. I am a high-heeled socially awkward girl that has an awful standing pose. Not to mention the exposed zippers, the spontaneously halfway unbuttoned shirts, the bangs I forget to cut (makes me look exactly like this).. I am not quite the epitome of awesome, it's often a lucky shot that makes it to the blog. Maybe I should show you the 'Mmmmeh, I don't think I would want to show that to my readers' pictures to illustrate my point......On second thought, maybe I shouldn't.

Anyway, this thing was totally different. It was more about the photographer and his ideas than about me and I liked that. Because I had to adopt a character instead of showing my personality in the pictures I changed my behavior in front of the camera. And the result even looked slightly cool! So many thanks to Lorenzo and Chary for the experience and the pictures you sent me!
Madhouse. The past few days have been a circus! I hadn't mentioned it on zhe blog yet, but I kind of organized the dessert catering of an entire film festival yesterday evening! Yes, you heard that right - in collaboration with a dear friend I baked cheesecakes, brownies, cookies and countless of other pastries for about 150 people. And it was a huge success! Telephone calls and business cards have been coming in the entire evening and the morning after. We didn't expect the overwhelming amount of positive feedback so we might want to do this some other time in the future - going pro! We still need to think of a business name though.. Something semi-funny like House of Noobcake would totally fit us. Any ideas? I will show you some pictures of the night later on!

Last week, while I was browsing through some old posts (pretty hilarious to see what outfits I came up with - this actually used to be one of the reasons for starting this blog, laughing out loud at my crazy clothing choices) I realized that the shoes I wear the most have NEVER been showcased in here... I was surprised to see that I didn't spot a single picture with a pair of All Star Converse shoes. I wear my chucks all the time so I decided to give them a warm welcome to this post by adding some chic to it - voilà my combination of Converse All-Stars with a sheer thrifted cape.
It's a staple that I avoided buying for some reason for a few years now.. While every other sane blogger is ranting about how 'ESSENTIAL IT IS TO HAVE GOOD ESSENTIALS!! RAAAH' I just tend to buy everything in pastel, electric blue, and my latest tendency is to buy practically everything in burgundy. Remember this burgundy coloured suit? It has kind of become my uniform in several variations.. I added a vintage sweater, a vintage envelope bag, an American Apparel tee and an AA maxi skirt to my collection of bordeaux galore ever since. Maybe I should have a look at my compulsory colour co-ordinated shopping.. But, today is boots talk!

I will probably be getting myself one of these models sometime soon: I want something chunky to be worn underneath dresses for a little bit of contrast in Spring - I picture a flowy short dress with pastel socks and Doc Martens, for instance. Simple yet KAPOW!

So the big question is.. Should I go with the Docs or go with the Western take on the black boot thing? Voting time!

Whats on my mind right now: tailored and cosy greys, with a tad of mint green.

On my wishlist: a well cut blazer in a cool gray hue, and a pair of mint coloured jeans to wear with one of my latest knit purchases (will show you later on). Now, where's my piggy bank?
Sometimes a girl needs to make sacrifices. These shoes are like wolves in sheep's clothing - they look like patent leather cushins, but they're actually brogues from HELL. But whatever, they really complemented the look I had in mind. So I dragged myself to a flea market and a lunch at this place called Mazzo wearing these pitchblack shoe-fangs and came home with blisters and an occasional bit of normal feet left here and there. Slight regret.
Luckily the leather is getting more supple, otherwise they would only serve their aesthetic purpose on a shelve in my room. Speaking of which, I recently redecorated my bedroom and would love to show you. To be continued..

Seen this little precious item already by the way? My parents gave me this gorgeous little golden necklace as a birthday present, and I have been wearing it ever since. Love that it's made from a combination of gold and white gold, it just matches perfectly with a whole shitload of necklaces no matter what colour.

Peace out, I am off to a spontaneous trip to an art gallery opening, see ya! ♥

Happy belated Valentine's day guys! Hope that you received lots of love, chocolate and everything that is pink, fluffy or inflatable. And for those who hate the festivity of Saint Valentine - I hope you watched a movie drenched in violence ('Fight Club' is a good alternative to 'Pretty woman' or whatever people watch whenever they're into Valentine's day and watching romantic comedies.)

I myself am not the kind of girl that's looking forward to Valentine's day for weeks or something, but I always think of it as a nice excuse to cook up a nice dinner, make some chocolate-y delight and take some time for each other. This year I made some chocolate coffee liqueur truffles and a dinner of chili gambas and mango dressing. YUM.

So, how did you spend the day? Having chocolate and buying roses or making a voodoo doll of your ex (I have been there lol)?

I could not have foreseen that the words 'kicks for chicks' would EVER apply to my way of dressing. First of all, I really, reaaaally dislike the word chick. It reminds me of ghetto-chic girls and chickens in general - neither of those two are things I would like to identify myself with. But now I have taken the term in use, because chicks simply sounds catchy alongside kicks. As for the kicks part, a couple of months ago I declared that I would go live under a rock if the New Balance sneaker trend would seriously set foot (pun actually not intended). But this little story proves that you shouldn't take my remarks too seriously from now on. Not only because I still haven't moved my IKEA furniture to a nice big stone by the sea, but the sneaker trend has even kicked in to my own wardrobe as well...

I didn't start sporting the trend entirely voluntarily - I strained my foot while working in hospital last year and the injury has not faded that much ever since. So every once in a while the pain pops up - and I got the idea to start wearing my running shoes on a daily basis to ease the pain. The timing was perfect - I actually get a lot of compliments on my, apparently, on-trend shoes.

And this is where I want to introduce you to one of my newest sponsors - Spartoo.nl is the Dutch equivalent of the huge online store Spartoo that specializes in shoes (schoenen) from all brands and categories. They also happen to have sporty sporty shoes. So if you love the sneaker trend or happen to suffer from fasciitis plantaris like I do (I honestly hope you don't), take a look at the collection I wrapped up for you.
So, what do you think of the sneaker trend? Do you hate it, do you love it, are you wearing it? I'm curious of your opinion.

PS. If you want to read about my (critical) attitude towards sponsors etc. - I am quite fond of individuality and independency as a blogger and strive to maintain those two qualities - you can read this interview I did with Dutch designer Charlotte Kan. There's a section on commercialism and blogging.

It's a cliché but I love the energy that Paris gives me. I'm really excited about the Paris trip I planned with a dear friend for next April. I kind of didn't share a single picture of the day I spent in Paris in December with my boyfriend.. Sorry. There was snot all over in 90% of them. That's why. I have this infallible talent of falling sick the day before I take off for a city trip.. I did it in Rome, I did it in Paris, I managed to do it on my Summer trip to Barcelona even - I've catched a bloody cold in half of the European cities! Anyway, I'm rambling.. Here's the remaining 10% of the pictures I made during our short stay there. We haven't done anything particularly special: we had a long walk along the Seine river starting at the Notre Dâme and we ended up at le Tour Eiffel, mon dieu! Our visit at the Eiffel tower didn't last very long since the snot factor was becoming too much of a burden.. And so we warmed up in a cute lunchroom (further on), after which we did some shopping in the bigger malls of Paris.

A BIG must-visit is this lunchroom called La Maison Angelina. It's a ten minute walk from Le Musée de Louvre.. And therefore insanely expensive. I mean, I would love to believe that the sandwiches over at Angelina have been made by the finest of chefs, but we skipped the 19 euros treat anyway, hehe. I'd suggest you'd only go with the divine Le chocolat chaud à l’ancienne dit “l’Africain” - quite a mouthful, I know - but it's basically hot chocolate which tastes like liquid brownie cake. Which is GOOD in my books. Definitely going to get that off the menu in two months again, can't wait ♥

PS. I think I'm fi-nal-ly getting there with the layout renovations: right now it's frilly and cute but clean and light at the same time. I think the rage is finally calming down a bit guys. I pwomise I won't be changing too much of the layout anymore for some time, it would only put us out of balance, no?
